The owners of Stumpy’s are Michelle and Scott Irwin and Shawnna and Chad Latino. They come from different backgrounds, and opening Stumpy’s is their first venture into owning a service industry small business. Michelle is a pharmaceutical rep, while Scott is an estimatics manager at Texas Farm Bureau. Chad is a dentist who owns his own practice, and Shawnna is a surgical nurse.

“Opening up a small business at any time can be tough, but the current environment brought challenges that were certainly unexpected and hard to navigate. Despite that, with the support of the amazing Waco community and local businesses, Stumpy’s Hatchet House has quickly become THE place to gather, social distance together, and let loose after a time of isolation. We were not sure what to expect, but have been pleasantly surprised at the turn out of customers. We were almost completely booked Saturday night,” Michelle said.
