Celebrate Christmas on the Beach at Rockport-Fulton

Christmas on the Beach in Rockport-Fulton brings a lighted holiday display to the area. The Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce, along with the Aransas County Navigation District, is planning a different kind of drive-through holiday celebration this year.

Several local nonprofit organizations and businesses have joined the efforts to bring a spectacularly lighted holiday experience to the circle area of the Rockport Beach. The display goes up Nov. 29 and will remain through Jan. 3 for residents and visitors to enjoy.

With so much uncertainty remaining due to Covid-19 restrictions, the community’s traditional Tropical Christmas celebration has changed to a different kind of event. Everyone is invited to stay safe and healthy in their own vehicles while driving through the joyous light display. Fifteen organizations, along with one local business, are participating in this first-year holiday light display.

“We’ve had great involvement this first year and hope the display will grow and others will want to get involved in years to come,” said Sandy Jumper, Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce Vice President of Marketing and Promotion.

A Christmas on the Beach Welcome Center sign greets visitors as they drive to the circle at the Rockport beach. The welcome center volunteers are handing out holiday treats donated by Copano Bay RV Resort. The Christmas lights display will be open to the public from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays, and from 6 to 10 p.m. on weekends from Nov. 29-Jan. 3.

The drive-through light display will be closed Dec. 5 to make way for the Tropical Christmas Fireworks Display that Saturday evening.

Keith Barrett, Aransas County Navigation District Harbor Master, said, “We have had the lone lighted tree at the beach for years, but adding more to it just makes sense.”
