Fredericksburg’s most anticipated annual festival, Oktoberfest, is set to return for its 44th celebration from October 4-6, 2024. This beloved event honors the town’s rich German heritage with an abundance of oompah music, arts and crafts, shopping, a children’s area, over 50 varieties of beer and wine, mouthwatering food, and plenty of festive fun. The three-day celebration will take place in the heart of downtown Fredericksburg at Marktplatz, with gates open from 6pm-midnight on Friday, 10am-midnight on Saturday, and 11am-6pm on Sunday.
One of the best local tips for making the most of Oktoberfest is to utilize the convenient Oktoberfest Park & Ride service. Festivalgoers can park at the Gillespie County Fairgrounds and catch shuttles that drop them off right at the festival entrance, while also having the option to purchase admission and concession tickets in advance to skip the lines. With a full lineup of musical acts on four stages, a waltz contest, a Kraut Run, a Hauptstrasse Chicken Dance, a Samuel Adams Beer Stein Hoist, a Polka Contest, a 42 Domino Tournament, and even a Family Dirndl and Lederhosen Contest, this year’s Oktoberfest promises to be the best celebration of Fredericksburg’s German heritage yet. Fredericksburg Food & Wine Festival
The 2024 Fredericksburg Food & Wine Festival will offer an array of exciting culinary experiences. Highlights include an intimate “street” dinner, an off-site interactive brunch, a yoga and wine experience, a family-friendly food activation, and a grand tasting event. With over 25 culinary booths, 38 wineries, breweries, and distilleries, as well as specialty attractions like a curated Sundry Shop and Sparkling Wine Garden, the festival promises something to delight every palate.
The festival is presented by the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce and will take place on October 25-26, 2024 at the Marktplatz in downtown Fredericksburg (100 Blk of W Main St, Fredericksburg, TX 78624). Festival hours are Friday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $125 per person.
31st Texas Mesquite Arts Festival Fredericksburg
The 31st annual Texas Mesquite Arts Festival will be held in Fredericksburg, showcasing the finest mesquite artisans from around the world. Their handcrafted creations span a diverse range, from large furniture pieces like beds, dressers, and chairs entirely made of mesquite, to unique craft and gift items such as beautifully turned lamps, delicate scrollwork, elegant pen and pencil sets, distinctive Christmas ornaments, and sculpted vases.
The event takes place from October 11-13, 2024 at the Marktplatz in downtown Fredericksburg (100 block of W. Main St, 78624). Festival hours are Friday from Noon to 6 PM, Saturday from 10 AM to 6 PM, and Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM. Admission is free. For more information, call (830) 997-8515.
