There are millions of horses in the United States and countless breeds. It is widely held that Christopher Columbus introduced the first horses in North America; however, new evidence suggests that native Americans might have interacted with horses long before Columbus used them as pack animals in the New World. Bret Clark and Justin Nalls have worked with horses as buyers and sellers for many years and are relaunching a San Antonio tradition in the Hill Country Classic Horse Sale. The event is open to the public and begins on Friday, October 18th, with a preview and a ranch horse competition at 6:00 pm that will display the versatility and skill of the ranch horse. Ranch horses are well-trained, generally obedient, and provide vital support for farmers and ranchers. In addition, there will be $5000.00 to the winner and other prizes. Following the competition, stay for a free concert at 9:00 pm with Texas native Rick Trevino.
All disciplines will be available for auction: performance horses that are trained for specific roles, performance prospects that are four years old and younger and ready to be trained, trail horses, rope horses, and barrel horses.
