Join us on Shop Small Saturday (the Saturday after Thanksgiving) to kick off the holiday season with the Lighting of the Burnet Courthouse Square!

Event Highlights:

  • 5:00 PM – Mrs. Claus will read Christmas stories and lead caroling near the Christmas tree, spreading cheer to young and old alike.
  • 5:30 PM – Enjoy complimentary hot chocolate and a DIY cookie decorating station.
  • 5:45 PM – Gather for brief remarks before the magical moment when the holiday lights illuminate Burnet Square!

After the lighting, make the most of the evening by shopping at local stores open until 6:30 PM, perfect for holiday gifts. You can also tour the Historic Jail at 109 S. Pierce St., where you’ll be treated to free hot cider.

Christmas on the Square in Burnet Brings New Family Fun!

Burnet’s beloved Christmas on the Square returns on Saturday, December 14, with festive spirit and new activities for families to enjoy! The celebration begins with a parade at noon and continues until 8:30 pm.

Each year, Christmas on the Square transforms Burnet’s downtown into a holiday wonderland, drawing nearly 13,000 visitors from Burnet and nearby areas. With nearly 200 vendorslive entertainmentdelicious food options, and avisit from Santa, the event captures the magic of the season. As a special holiday tradition, 80 bicycles will be given away to local kids during the festival.

This year, families can explore a fresh kids’ area filled with free activities that are sure to entertain! While the usual snow slide and play area are taking a break, new attractions await:

  • Pony Rides & Petting Zoo – Kids can meet adorable animals, adding a little Texas charm.
  • Potato Sack Carnival Slide – A thrilling, three-person slide for a fun carnival twist.
  • Rock Climbing Wall – Young adventurers can test their skills on a holiday-themed climbing wall.
  • Artificial Snow Photo Ops – Capture holiday memories with a wintery “snow” backdrop.

The Christmas train will also return, offering scenic holiday-themed rides for kids and their parents.

Just a short walk from the Square, Main Street Bethlehem (300 E Washington St.) will offer a unique, immersive experience of an ancient marketplace. Stroll through the bustling village, savor the smells of goat butter and fresh-baked bread, and follow the path to a stable where a road-weary couple has found refuge among the animals. Admission is free, with donations welcome.
