MusicWalk: Celebrating the Rhythms of Corpus Christi

Setting a Star on the MusicWalk in Corpus Christi

Experience the vibrant, annual MusicWalk celebration that transforms downtown Corpus Christi into a dynamic hub of live music, art, and community spirit. This lively event features performances by local musicians across diverse genres, from rock and jazz to country and blues. Stroll through the scenic streets, enjoy the sounds of talented artists, and discover unique local vendors and food trucks. MusicWalk not only showcases the city’s rich musical heritage, but also fosters a sense of togetherness, making it a must-attend event.

Founded in 2004 as a gift from the owner of Water Street Oyster Bar, the South Texas Music Walk of Fame has grown from 6 stars to 93. This year, the final 7 stars will be added, completing this tribute to the region’s musical legacy. Located just one block from the bay in downtown Corpus Christi, a sunlit courtyard features beautiful ceramic tile stars, each honoring a legendary local musician.

For 17 years, the public has submitted nominations, and six names were chosen annually to be immortalized on new stars designed and installed by Aloe Tile. To be eligible, nominees must hail from South Texas, be music makers (performers, producers, songwriters), and be upstanding citizens.

Sharkathon: A Conservation-Focused Shark Fishing Tournament

Sharkathon is one of the largest conservation-based shark fishing tournaments, held annually in October and November. This event educates anglers on the importance of catch-and-release practices when fishing for sharks, as well as the broader significance of marine life preservation. Over the years, the tournament has grown significantly, with cash and prize winnings now exceeding $80,000. Proceeds from raffle sales are used to fund educational opportunities for underprivileged children, further supporting the tournament’s conservation mission.
