For fabrics, that might include using formaldehyde and heavy metals or fungicides to prevent pests during shipping and storage. Cotton grown on farms that use fertilizers and pesticides risks introducing these toxins to the cotton, which eventually finds its way into the fabric and has been linked in some studies to dermatitis and other allergic reactions.
The Oldham family farm has grown cotton organically since 1992, producing truly unique products. Gary Oldman’s grandfather cleared prairie grass for the first cotton crop, and the family has been farming the land for more than 100 years in Samnorwood, Texas.
